  • Happy Mother's Day!

Kudos to us. We are amazing.

Being a mom is hard work!

Motherhood is the biggest gamble in the world. There is no manual; however, the countless ways a mother expresses her love for her children comes so naturally. We are given this superhuman power to be everything they need. It’s the hardest dang job in the world, and we always wonder if we are doing things wrong, but that’s what it means to be a mom. It’s because we care so much, and we love so fierce. I often think that having children just puts the whole world in perspective, and I am forever grateful for that.

Let’s talk about mom guilt. Do you ever feel like you are falling short of expectations? I know I do, and I know my mom did, her mom did, and her mom did before that. It’s time that we all stop! It’s hard to do, but we need to accept the fact that we aren’t perfect. Nobody is. In fact, we need to be a good role model for our kids and show them that we live in a perfectly imperfect world. So next time that mom guilt creeps up, let’s remind ourselves how much we love our children and give ourselves a pat on the back. There’s no bond quite as strong in the entire world, and no love so instantaneous and forgiving.

Not only do we need to get rid of mom guilt, but we also need to make sure we are taking care of ourselves. Making time for self-care is super important. This could be as simple as a bubble bath or face mask, enjoying a glass of wine and a good book, or a weekend getaway with your girlfriends or hubby. These breaks give us sanity and clear our minds. We become aware of our own thoughts, and that’s pretty darn amazing. And in reality, who doesn’t feel like a better mom after filling her own bucket a little bit?

So, on this Mother’s Day, as we continue to learn about strengths we didn’t know we had and continue to deal with fears we didn’t know existed, we need to remember that we are kind, patient, generous and accepting. We are mothers … and we are AMAZING.

    Happy Mother’s Day,
